All of our substrates at Artisan Frag Plugs are designed around coral growth & happiness. We use a proprietary blend of aragonite, crushed coral, and silica sand that mimics the natural texture and chemistry of real reef rock to create the perfect substrate for healthy corals.

Do frag plugs need to be cured before use?
No. Our frag plugs are fully cured and ready for reef aquarium use. Each batch undergoes an extended curing process to minimize alkalinity leaching and provide a stable surface for coral attachment and growth.
What corals can be mounted on frag plugs?
Frag plugs are suitable for nearly all coral types, including SPS, LPS, soft corals, zoanthids, mushrooms, and encrusting species. Their textured surface helps coral tissue and coral glue bond securely while encouraging natural encrustation over time.
Why choose aragonite frag plugs over standard cement or ceramic plugs?
Aragonite frag plugs more closely resemble natural reef substrate and provide a realistic texture that many corals readily encrust. The added surface complexity can improve aesthetics in reef displays while helping frags transition more naturally into rockwork. The natural patterns of aragonite frag plugs also tend encourage natural encrustation patterns in coral frags.
What is the return policy?
We accept returns and exchanges within specific guidelines designed to maintain the quality and biological safety of our products.
- Returns must be initiated within 45 days of delivery
- Items must be unused and returned in original packaging
- Customers are responsible for return shipping unless the item arrived damaged or incorrect
- Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method after inspection
- Original shipping costs are non-refundable
